Brief description of the seminar
Plant metabolite profiling reveals the diversity of secondary or specialized metabolites in the plant kingdom with its hundreds of thousands of species. Specialized plant metabolites pose significant challenges in analytical chemistry. In order to be of maximum scientific relevance, reports dealing with these compounds and their source species must be transparent, make use of standards and reference materials, and be based on correctly and traceably identified plant material.
About the speaker
Our distinguished speaker has been a Professor of Pharmaceutical Biology in Kiel, Germany, since 2016. His journey in the field began with pharmacy studies in Düsseldorf, followed by a PhD in Pharmacognosy from Innsbruck, Austria, in 1998. A postdoctoral fellowship then took him to Dunedin, New Zealand, in 2000-2001. His experience also includes a period at the European Commission in Belgium (2010-2013), and a Marie Curie Fellow in Pozzuoli, Italy, from 2015-2016.
