Formador: Vasco Vieira

About the teacher
Dr
Vasco Vieira studied in University of Algarve where he completed a 5
year graduation in Marine Biology in 1999, MsC in Ecology in 2004 and
PhD in Earth Sciences in 2011. He has 17 international peer-reviewed
publications, first author in 13, and ISI summing to 39.6. All works he
was first author used algorithms and software he developed, including 4
he made available to the specialized scientific community. He researches
in 4 interacting main areas: (i) modelling population ecology and
life-cycle evolution (ii) development of numerical and statistical
methods for application in ecology and environmental research (iii)
modelling biogeochemical cycles with focus in atmosphere-ocean
greenhouse gas exchange, and (iv) modelling anthropogenic and climate
change impacts in marine ecosystems. To proceed in these research lines,
he established networks with leading researchers from such institutions
as Universidade do Algarve and Instituto Superior Técnico – Portugal,
Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique – France, Pontificia
Universidad Católica de Chile – Chile,  Universidade Estadual do Rio de
Janeiro – Brazil, Saint Francis Xavier University – Canada, Uppsala
University – Sweden, Finish Meteorological Institute – Finland, Centro
Euro-Mediterraneo sui Cambiamenti Climatici – Italy, Institute of
Computer Science – Czeck Republic, and East Anglia University – England.
