Nuno Sales Henriques has been an integral part of CCMAR’s research community for over a decade, following his academic training in Marine Biology and Fisheries at the University of Algarve. After completing a Bachelor’s degree in Marine Biology and Fisheries, he earned a Master’s degree in Aquaculture and Fisheries, and is now approaching the final milestone of his PhD.
Thesis Title: A new methodological approach to assess the effort and spatiotemporal dynamics of a fishery
Throughout his academic and professional journey, Nuno’s work has focused on fisheries, marine biodiversity, and marine spatial planning, with a strong emphasis on the use of geospatial data to support management and conservation. His research has contributed to mapping fishing effort, identifying priority habitats, and supporting the design and assessment of marine protected areas.
By working at the interface between science, management, and stakeholders, Nuno has played an active role in national and international projects aimed at promoting sustainable fisheries and evidence-based marine governance. His work combines ecological knowledge with applied tools to address real-world challenges in marine resource management.
As he reaches this important milestone, we invite the CCMAR community to come together and support Nuno in this significant moment of his scientific career.
