The Biomares project, restoration and conservation of Biodiversity in Marine Park Monastery-Espichel, was awarded with an Honorable Mention in this year's Green Project Awards (GPA 2009).
The project was nominated, along with 19 other proposals, among which the winner was the "Bank of Donated Goods and Equipment", created by the Entrajuda institution.
This is the second time that Biomares has been distinguished, mainly because is a sustainable project with great importance for the conservation and restoration of biodiversity in the Marine Park Luiz Saldanha.
The Minister of Finance and Economy and the Environment Minister handed over the prizes to the winners of the second edition of the Green Project Awards.
The GPA, which took place for the second time, are part of a pioneer project in Portugal created by the GCI Group, in partnership with the Portuguese Agency for the Environment, Ministry of Environment, Spatial Planning and Regional Development and Quercus. The aim is to reward and recognize good practices in projects implemented in Portugal, to promote sustainable development, in addition to a movement of awareness, with the goal of creating awareness and civil society aware of the importance of balancing environmental, economic and social development.
