Joana Pinto da Silva is a PhD Student in Biomedical Sciences at the University of Algarve, where she is developing her research work as a member of the Drug Delivery Lab. She holds a Master’s degree in Biomedical Sciences from the University of Algarve, obtained in 2020. She was awarded a PhD fellowship in 2021 by the Foundation for Science and Technology, in Portugal. Joana spent a 6-month period performing research experiments at the University of Navarra. Her work mainly focuses on dry powder development for application as an inhalable platform for immunisation against respiratory infections. As a member of the Drug Delivery Lab group, she explores different carriers and excipients for several applications, mainly focusing on pulmonary delivery strategies.
