I graduated in Marine Biology in 2006, completed a post-graduation in Quality Management and Food Safety in 2009, earned a MSc in Marine Sciences in 2012, and obtained my PhD in Paleoclimate from Bordeaux University, France, in May 2017.
To contribute to better understand how the Earth System responds to natural and human-induced perturbations, I focus on the response of vegetation to climatic forcing variations at orbital and millennial timescales over regions particularly sensitive to climate change. My specialist area of interest is the detection and characterization of vegetation and climate changes in the North Atlantic region (Iberian and French margins and eastern North America coast) and NE India (Mahanadi Basin, Bay of Bengal) during past warm periods using pollen-based vegetation records from Quaternary marine archives.
Author/co-author of 18 publications in ISI journals since 2015. My work has awarded me 6 prizes, including the L’Oréal Medal of Honour for Women in Science (2017), the Alumni Career Award by Polytechnic Institute of Leiria (2023), and the Lewis Penny Medal by the Quaternary Research Association (2024), and 15 grants to participate in international scientific meetings.
Conscious of the importance of dissemination and outreach, I have been very active in this domain, participating in national and international scientific meetings (> 100 presentations) and being involved in several outreach initiatives such as IPMA-Escolas, dedicated to 1st grade students, talks at schools, or yet being co-responsible for the scientific Paleo-Forums organization in the Marine Geology and Georesources Division (DivGM) at IPMA, PT (since 2014).
