We conduct research on ethology and welfare of aquatic animals.

Our research focuses on:

1) Fundamental aspects of behaviour of aquatic animals, using an ethological framework departing form the 4 questions of Ethology (causation, development, function and evolution);

2) Assessing the welfare of aquatic animals in aquaculture, fisheries, aquariums and experimental settings;

3) Improving the welfare of aquatic animals using science-based applications and development.
