I am a PhD candidate focusing on isolating and characterizing the cultivable microbiome of two commercially important green macroalgae, Ulva and Codium, from both natural habitats and Integrated Multi-Trophic Aquaculture (IMTA) systems in Portugal. My study combines biotechnological advancements by co-cultivating these seaweed genera with beneficial microbes to enhance industrial macroalgal productivity and improve biomass quality.
