Project Summary
The main objective of MOVE is to improve the conservation and fisheries sustainability of coastal predatory fishes in Europe to increase the resilience of coastal social-ecological systems. To this end, we will identify their movescapes, that is, the different movement signatures of predatory fish across Europe, at both inter and intraspecific levels, and their relationship with functional role, demography and life-history. Next, we will evaluate how this information can be used to increase ecosystem resilience and to understand how ecosystem functioning can be maintained by ‘climate proof’ MPAs that protect this group of fishes.
