CCMAR's contributions to microscopy were well represented at the Spanish & Portuguese Advanced Optical Microscopy Meeting (SPAOM) 2024.
Dr. Teresa Correia, a member of the organizing committee and leader of the Quantitative Bioimaging Laboratory (QBI), took along three PhD students - Katrin Walter (Kate, MMEB), Aliana Vairinhos (CEIB) and Lelde Hermane (Lexy, QBI) - who received scholarships for the conference. Each student presented a poster, and Lexy gave a dynamic talk, while Aliana not only presented her research, but also contributed as a volunteer to the organization of the conference.
SPAOM is the Spanish and Portuguese Meeting of Advanced Optical Microscopy, co-organized by the Portuguese and Spanish Networks of Advanced Optical Microscopy, which aims to promote new knowledge in microscopy applications, developments and technologies. To this end, it promotes active participation in scientific-technical workshops that bring new technologies and methodologies closer to the participants, boosting interactions and collaborations between the scientific community and industry.
Our Quantitative Bioimaging Laboratory is dedicated to research in the areas of acquisition, processing, reconstruction and analysis of medical and biological images. Among our focuses are the development of approaches for fast imaging, motion correction, artificial intelligence-based processing, reconstruction and quantification. These techniques are applied in Magnetic Resonance Imaging and Optical Imaging, covering diverse fields such as cardiology, oncology and marine biology.
For the PhD students, SPAOM 2024 was an incredible opportunity to connect with the international academic and industrial microscopy community, explore the latest advances and showcase CCMAR's contributions to microscopy.
