United for the Welfare of the Algarve Community
On November 30, December 1 and 5, 2024, a team of volunteers from CCMAR (Centro de Ciências do Mar) joined the Food Bank in a solidarity campaign with a direct impact on the Algarve region.
The volunteers dedicated themselves to essential tasks, such as sorting donated food and goods. In addition, they helped fold paper bags, promoting their sustainable reuse for future solidarity actions.
This effort reflects the scientific community's commitment to supporting social causes, underlining the importance of volunteering, associations and community work in promoting a more cohesive and supportive society. In the Algarve, a region with specific social challenges, initiatives like this strengthen the links between science, citizenship and collective well-being.
Volunteering not only benefits those who receive help, but also creates a sense of purpose and unity among those who dedicate their time to making a difference. CCMAR would like to thank everyone involved, reinforcing the importance of joint actions to build a fairer and more supportive future.
