Frauke is a biochemistry masters student coming from the University of Lübeck. She will be joining the BlueTox group, under the supervision of our researcher Sandra Lage, for an internship focused on studying the microbial diversity responsible for Tetrodotoxin contamination in Portuguese marine organisms, as part of the PROCOAST project.
Tell us a bit about the work you will be doing at CCMAR.
Frauke: During my internship in the group Blue Tox I will isolate potential Tetrodotoxin-Producing Bacteria from Gastropod Samples to further extract and analyze Tetrodotoxin.
What were you doing before you rejoined us?
Before I was studying biochemistry in my masters in Luebeck and will finish that afterwards.
What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
I love to be outside in nature, go swimming, hiking and enjoy the view at the summit. I also like to spend my time trying new activities or bake cakes.
