It is with great pride and joy that we share this remarkable achievement: 10 of our scientists have been ranked among the top 2% most cited researchers worldwide, according to the "Stanford World's Top 2% Scientists" list. This recognition highlights the dedication and innovative work of CCMAR researchers, reinforcing the centre's and the University of Algarve's growing influence within the global scientific community. 

The inclusion of such a significant number of researchers underscores our relevance and leadership in various scientific fields, such as Marine Biology, Inorganic Chemistry, Pharmacology, and Biotechnology

 

Key Highlights of the 2024 Ranking: 

In the 2024 ranking, we have 10 CCMAR researchers listed as the most cited and influential scientists worldwide, based on their performance during the year 2023 alone. 

Additionally, 4 out of these 10 CCMAR researchers have been recognised as the most prominent in the world based on their cumulative performance throughout their academic careers (names highlighted in blue).

In the 2024 edition of the ranking, coordinated by Professor John P. A. Ioannidis from Stanford University (USA) and known as the "Stanford World's Top 2% Scientists", 10 CCMAR researchers have been recognised among the best in the world. This prestigious ranking is based on citation metrics extracted from Elsevier’s Scopus database, with data updated until the end of 2023. The Stanford/Elsevier Top 2% Scientists list is built upon standardised data covering various indicators such as citation metrics and the h-index, providing an annual overview of the world's highest-performing researchers. The list offers insights into the influence and reach of scientists across a wide range of research fields.
