Generic representation of Cientistas e empresários pedem mais investimento ao Governo
Raising only one voice, scientists and entrepreneurs call on the Government for more investment in research and innovation. The Manifesto that they present is subscribed by 100 researchers and businessmen and is online in the Expresso website.

This is a decisive time for Portugal, through its government, to define its future and play a stronger role in shaping Europe's future. To do so, the Portuguese government must have a strong and visionary position on research and innovation.

in Manifesto de cientistas e empresários, July 2020

“More than ever, science and innovation are essential and determinant in society, namely in the identification of solutions for public health emergencies, in the definition of response strategies, in the determination of the necessary public policies or in the business models existing. The current pandemic has brought a known but often overlooked truth to the spotlight”, underline the promoters of the Manifesto, which is available online and can also be signed here.

Among the hundred subscribers, there is Adelino Canário, president of the Board of CCMAR, at the University of Algarve, who explains that the decision that is on the table in the EU Council to cut more than 5 billion in Horizonte Europa has to be stopped.

The signatories of this manifesto believe that society has managed to react to this pandemic due to the close collaboration between research and innovation and underline that these axes are central to the "new reality".
