Alexandra Cunha, PhD in ecological modelling by Auburn University, USA, is a researcher at CCMAR, where she has played the role of the LIFE-Biomares project executive coordinator since 2006.

Specialized in marine ecology of seagrass meadows, with experience in nature conservation, Alexandra Cunha has been part of the Algarve regional delegation of the “Liga de Protecção da Natureza” (LPN) since 2001.

The researcher is now the chair of the National Board of the institution, succeeding to Eugénio Sequeira.

The LPN is a non-governmental and non-profit organization, it has over 60 years of activity and is therefore considered the oldest association of environmental protection in the Iberian Peninsula. The main objective of LPN is to contribute to the conservation of natural heritage, diversity of species and ecosystems.
