A researcher of the Centre of Marine Sciences (CCMAR), Carlos M. L. Afonso, and his belgian malacologist colleague, Koen Fraussen, published in September 2008, in a specialised magazine, Gloria Maris, the description of a new endemic species to the Cape Verde archipelago.

This is a gastropod mollusk of the genus Euthria (Family Buccinidae), with approximately 10 to 14 mm length, which is represented by a large radiation in the archipelago, with more than 20 new species described, only in the last decade.

The new species, Euthria taeniopsoides, was discovered in coastal waters near the Sal island.
