Tell us a bit about the work you are/will be doing at CCMAR
I joined the European project RHE-MEDiation with the aim of destress the Mediterranean Sea from chemical pollution, deploying microalgae-based technology. In particular, I will analyze the microalgal biomass to determine the overall efficiency. Furthermore, the produced microalgal biomass will be evaluated, to evaluate its most suitable and advantageous biotechnological application, such as for biofuels or extraction of high-added value compounds.
What were you doing before you joined us?
I got my PhD in Biotechnology at Università degli studi di Napoli Federico II. My doctoral research was focused on optimizing a sustainable biorefinery extraction of valuable bioactive compounds from microalgae to be used in several applications.
What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
My passion is to play videogames, roleplaying games and board games. I also love spending time with friends and meeting new people.
