Generic representation of PRESENTATION OF THE NEW micro-FTIR EQUIPMENT

The new Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) Microscope is included in our structural chemistry platform, which is integrated into the EMBRC.PT infrastructure. The equipment combines the capabilities of FTIR spectroscopy with light microscopy, allowing for analysis of samples down to few micrometers (micro-FTIR).

This equipment provides information on the molecular structure of organic and inorganic components of a large diversity of materials, ranging from plastic polymers and paints to pharmaceuticals, food, rocks and fossils.

The new micro-FTIR (Thermo Scientific, model iN10) is equipped with DTGS, MCT-A, MCT-B and MCT Array detectors. Sampling can be made in transmission, reflection and ATR modes. Measurement modes available are single point, single point mapping, fast mapping and imaging. This equipment is available to researchers from different areas of knowledge, as well as to users from the education and industry sectors.
