I am a marine scientist concerned on the (unequal) human footprint on the planet, and how this is affecting other species, and ultimately ourselves. My research is aimed to understand anthropogenic impacts on the natural environment, and looking for mitigation strategies towards these stressors. More particularly, in the last years I have focused my research on the environmental impacts of microplastic pollution, following two main research lines (i) assessing microplastic pollution in different environments, looking for the main sources of pollution; and (ii) looking for microorganisms with potential to biodegrade microplastics.
