With a PhD in Marine Biology, specializing in ecology, aquaculture, and environmental impacts, from the University of Santiago de Compostela (USC) in 2009, I have dedicated over 15 years to advancing research and innovation within the field. As a CCMAR Liaison Officer and Technological Core Facility Manager at the Center for Marine and Environmental Research (CCMAR), I oversee the access and management of transnational infrastructure for several high-profile European projects, including AQUAEXCEL3.0, Agroserv, AQUARIUS, IRISCC, and AQUASERV. In addition, I act as Liaison Officer at EMBRC.PT, an important European research infrastructure providing access to marine organisms and cutting-edge technological platforms and experimental facilities. I am member of project PRR: Pacto Bioeconomia Azul - Vertical Bivalves (WP 2) | - CCMAR and support several research studies in the area of bivalves as consultant, more recently in the discovery of cancer diseases in bivalves in Portugal.
My core expertise is in managing quality control, service provision, and ensuring the seamless translation of scientific requirements across diverse domains. I am responsible for overseeing complex service requests while maintaining strict adherence to work standards, regulatory requirements, safety protocols, and, critically, ethical guidelines. This includes upholding the highest standards of integrity in research and ensuring full compliance with ethical practices in scientific work.
Through my role, I have gained a deep understanding of the ethical considerations and integrity issues inherent in research environments. I have consistently worked to foster a culture of transparency, accountability, and rigor in all aspects of research management, from procurement to data handling and scientific output. Navigating these challenges and ensuring that ethical principles are at the forefront of all activities is both a professional responsibility and a personal commitment, and it continues to be a source of pride and fulfillment in my work.
